A vehicle is registered once and reused for every quote: a new contract period, a different coverage or a different usage does not need a new vehicle.

One vehicle per licence plate

Your company can have only one vehicle per licence plate. Plates are normalised before they are stored or compared: spaces are removed and letters uppercased, so 1234 ab 01 and 1234AB01 are the same plate. Registering a plate your company already has answers 409 with the existing vehicle’s id:
You can treat this as a success and carry on with vehicleId. It also makes retrying a registration safe.

Your own reference: externalId

Set externalId to the id the vehicle has in your systems, so you never need to store Djigui’s ids. It is optional, up to 255 characters, and unique within your company, like the plate. Find a vehicle by either:
Both are exact matches, so data holds zero or one vehicle. You can set, change or clear (null) the external id of a registered vehicle with PATCH /vehicle/{id}.

Vehicles cannot be edited

Apart from externalId, a vehicle cannot change after registration: its details are what quotes are priced on. Check them before you send them. If a registered vehicle is wrong, contact Djigui.

Usage belongs to the quote

How the vehicle is used (pleasure or renting) is not part of the vehicle. You give it on each quote, so the same vehicle can be quoted for pleasure, then for renting.

Registration document

You can attach the vehicle’s registration document (carte grise) when you register it. Send the request as multipart/form-data instead of JSON, with the same fields as form fields and the file in registrationDocument:
The file must be a PDF, JPEG or PNG of 10 MB or less. The vehicle’s hasRegistrationDocument tells you whether one was attached. A document can only be attached at registration.

Cars and motorbikes

type is auto for a car or bike for a motorbike. A vehicle can only be quoted under a coverage for its type. For a motorbike, power is the cubic capacity instead of the fiscal horsepower.
